The Pinterest Board vs Reality | Realistic Expectations in Weddings.
Pinterest is inspiration, not a rulebook.
Your wedding board is a beautiful starting point, but it does not have to be copied perfectly for your day to be meaningful, romantic, or photo-worthy.
Blossom & Co. Photography - A quiet moment of prayer.
Planning a wedding is such an exciting season. You start dreaming, saving inspiration, pinning color palettes, dresses, florals, table settings, ceremony backdrops, and all the little details that make your heart happy. This is where Pinterest can be such a beautiful place to gather ideas and imagine what your wedding day could look like. But sometimes, without meaning to, it can also create a lot of pressure.
You may start looking at your wedding plans and wondering, “Why doesn’t my day look like this?” or “Are my flowers enough?” or “Will my photos still be beautiful if everything isn’t perfect?”
And I just want to gently remind you: yes, your day can still be absolutely beautiful.
Something many couples may not realize is that a lot of wedding images on Pinterest are not from real wedding days. Many of them are styled shoots or highly curated weddings. Styled shoots are created specifically for photos. They often have carefully chosen models, perfect lighting, luxury florals, designer details, custom stationery, and a calm, controlled environment where everything is placed just right.
And while those images are gorgeous, they are not always realistic for an actual wedding day. Real weddings are different!!! and that is not a bad thing at all <3
Real wedding days have movement. They have emotion. They have timelines that sometimes run behind, weather that changes, family members gathering, kids running around, wind blowing your veil, happy tears, tight hugs, and moments that cannot be planned or staged. Those are not imperfections. Those are the pieces that make your wedding day truly yours. Your wedding does not have to look exactly like your Pinterest board to be meaningful, romantic, or photo-worthy. Your venue does not have to be a luxury estate. Your florals do not have to cover every inch of the room. Your timeline does not have to be flawless. Your dress, decor, and details do not have to match what someone else had online.
Pinterest is a wonderful tool for inspiration, but it should never feel like a rulebook. It is okay to take ideas from it and then shape them into something that fits your real life, your budget, your venue, and your season.
It does not mean your photos will be any less special. It simply means your wedding is real.
And real is always worth documenting.
At the end of the day, your wedding is not meant to be a styled shoot. It is meant to be a celebration of your love. The perfectly curated details may be lovely, but the real moments are what you will remember most <3
XOXO, Pansy
